Zero barriers to opportunity. It means promoting a culture where all employees feel they belong, are respected, and feel valued for who they are - Medtronic

Not all breakthroughs happen in a lab or operating room.

Sometimes, the most meaningful ones happen in quiet moments—when someone finally feels seen, understood, and safe enough to be themselves.

Mick Ryan has worked at our Galway facility for 25 years. He’s also spent much of that time navigating life with undiagnosed ADHD and autism.

After years of masking his true self, his diagnosis became a turning point—what he calls a “big, shiny-light moment.”

Stories like Mick’s remind us that mental health and neurodiversity don’t sit on the sidelines of work. They’re part of the whole person who shows up every day.

That’s why creating space to thrive matters.

At our Galway campus, we recently introduced Cubbie—a first-of-its-kind workplace installation designed to help regulate anxiety and sensory overload. This innovation was led by listening to what employees truly need.

Mick, thank you for your vulnerability and your courage. You’re helping all of us see that when people feel safe to be themselves, everyone grows stronger.
